This document describes the nature, benefits, risks, and limitations of telehealth services provided through BetterSkin. It is incorporated by reference into BetterSkin's Terms of Use. By using BetterSkin's telehealth services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this document. You may also be asked to provide electronic consent through the BetterSkin platform before your first visit.

SECTION 1: WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?

Telehealth involves the delivery of healthcare services using electronic communications technology — including secure video conferencing and asynchronous photo and message-based consultations — where the patient and healthcare provider are not in the same physical location. BetterSkin uses telehealth technology to connect you with licensed dermatology providers for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of skin conditions.

BetterSkin offers two types of telehealth visits:

  • Live video visits (synchronous): A real-time video consultation with a licensed healthcare provider. These visits function similarly to an in-person appointment and allow for live conversation and visual assessment.
  • Photo and message-based visits (asynchronous): You submit photos, video, and a detailed intake form describing your skin concern. Your provider reviews your case and responds with an assessment and treatment plan, typically within one to two business days. You and your provider are not online at the same time.

SECTION 2: BENEFITS OF TELEHEALTH

Telehealth services can offer significant benefits, including:

  • Convenient access to licensed dermatology providers without travel or waiting room time;
  • Faster access to assessment and treatment, particularly for common skin conditions;
  • Access to dermatology care in areas with limited local provider availability; and
  • A private, secure environment for discussing sensitive health concerns.

SECTION 3: RISKS AND LIMITATIONS OF TELEHEALTH

You should be aware of the following risks and limitations before proceeding with telehealth services through BetterSkin:

  • Limited physical assessment. Telehealth assessments are based on visual information, your reported symptoms, and medical history. Your provider cannot perform a physical examination, palpate tissue, or use diagnostic instruments as they would in an in-person visit.
  • Image and video quality. For asynchronous visits, the quality of photos or video you submit significantly affects your provider's ability to assess your skin condition. Poor lighting, blurriness, or incomplete coverage of the affected area may limit the accuracy of the assessment.
  • Technical failures. Internet connectivity issues, platform outages, or device problems may interrupt or delay a visit. BetterSkin is not responsible for technical failures caused by your device, internet connection, or local network.
  • Not appropriate for all conditions. Telehealth is not appropriate for all skin conditions. Your provider may determine that your condition requires in-person evaluation, biopsy, laboratory testing, or emergency care, and will communicate this to you.
  • Asynchronous delays. Photo and message-based visits are not monitored in real time. If your condition is urgent or worsening rapidly, do not submit an asynchronous visit request — seek in-person care immediately.
  • Diagnostic limitations. A telehealth diagnosis or treatment plan may differ from what an in-person provider would recommend after a complete physical examination. Telehealth is a supplement to, not a replacement for, in-person care in all situations.

IMPORTANT: BetterSkin is not an emergency medical service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Do not use this platform to seek emergency care.

SECTION 4: TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM AND SECURITY

BetterSkin delivers telehealth services through Healee, a telehealth technology platform operated by Eight Investments Inc. (Great Neck, NY). Eight Investments Inc. is a Business Associate of BetterSkin under a signed Business Associate Agreement effective June 15, 2026, which requires Healee to maintain appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards for your protected health information in compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule.

Healee processes your protected health information solely for the purpose of facilitating your telehealth visits and related communications. Healee does not use your health information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the services described in our Business Associate Agreement.

BetterSkin and Healee use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your health information during telehealth visits and in all platform communications. No electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, and you acknowledge this limitation. No third-party advertising or analytics tracking scripts fire on any page of the Healee-hosted telehealth flow or patient intake questionnaire.

SECTION 5: PROVIDER LICENSING AND CLINICAL PRACTICE

BetterSkin's affiliated healthcare providers are licensed physicians or other licensed healthcare professionals authorized to practice in the state where you are located at the time of your visit. BetterSkin verifies provider licensure as part of its credentialing process.

Clinical decisions — including whether a prescription is appropriate, what treatment to recommend, and whether your condition is suitable for telehealth management — are made by licensed clinicians employed or contracted by the affiliated physician practices, not by BetterSkin. BetterSkin provides a technology platform; it does not practice medicine.

By using BetterSkin's telehealth services, you confirm that you are located in a state where your assigned provider holds an active license at the time of your visit.

SECTION 6: PRESCRIPTIONS

If your provider determines that a prescription is clinically appropriate following your telehealth visit, they may issue a prescription electronically to a pharmacy of your choice or to BetterSkin's partner pharmacy for fulfillment and delivery. Not all visits will result in a prescription. Your provider's clinical judgment governs all prescribing decisions, and a prescription is not guaranteed.

Providing false, incomplete, or misleading health information during your visit may affect the safety and appropriateness of any prescription you receive. You are responsible for accurately disclosing all relevant health history, current medications, and allergies.

SECTION 7: CONDITIONS REQUIRING IN-PERSON CARE

Certain conditions cannot be safely or adequately assessed or treated through telehealth and may require in-person evaluation. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Conditions requiring biopsy or laboratory testing for diagnosis;
  • Rapidly spreading infections or rashes that may indicate systemic illness;
  • Suspected skin cancer or lesions of uncertain nature requiring physical examination or dermoscopy;
  • Conditions requiring in-office procedures such as excision, cryotherapy, or injections; and
  • Any condition your provider determines cannot be safely managed through a remote visit.

If your provider determines your condition falls into any of these categories, they will notify you and recommend appropriate next steps, which may include an in-person referral.

SECTION 8: YOUR RIGHT TO WITHDRAW CONSENT

Your consent to telehealth is voluntary. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting BetterSkin at [email protected]. Withdrawal of consent will not affect care you have already received, but it will prevent you from using BetterSkin's telehealth services going forward.

You have the right to seek in-person dermatology care at any time, and you are encouraged to maintain a relationship with a primary care provider and any appropriate specialists.

SECTION 9: PRIVACY AND YOUR HEALTH INFORMATION

Your health information is handled in compliance with applicable federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA. Please review our Notice of Privacy Practices at www.betterskin.com/notice-of-privacy-practices and our Privacy Policy at www.betterskin.com/privacy-policy for full details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Your protected health information will not be used for advertising or marketing purposes without your separate written HIPAA Authorization. No tracking pixels or advertising tags are present on any clinical page, authenticated page, or any page of the Healee-hosted telehealth flow.
